As 2025 draws to a close, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone across Scotland’s recovery movement—our partners, communities, volunteers, and colleagues—for your incredible support and collaboration throughout this year. Together, we have continued to champion recovery as a human right and strengthen the systems that make recovery visible, valued, and sustainable.
This year’s highlights reflect the power of partnership and progress:
- SRC Strategy Consultation – Engaging widely to shape our 2026–2029 strategy, ensuring lived experience and sector voices guide our future direction.
- SRC National Conference – A landmark event fostering dialogue, learning, and innovation across Scotland’s recovery landscape.
- Recovery Walk & Recovery Month – Celebrating recovery, challenging stigma, and amplifying hope in every community.
- Foundational Research – Completing critical research that will underpin our work in 2026 and beyond, strengthening evidence-based practice and policy influence.
- Connections and Relationships – Building and deepening relationships across sectors, communities, and systems—creating the trust and collaboration that make real change possible.
- Women in Recovery – Elevating the voices and experiences of women, addressing gender-specific barriers, and ensuring recovery pathways are inclusive and responsive.
- Participation and Engagement – Embedding meaningful involvement at every level, guided by Scotland’s Participation Framework, ensuring people with lived experience shape policy, practice, and governance.
- UK and International Advocacy – Highlighting the need for recovery to be recognised as a global priority, sharing Scotland’s leadership and learning with partners across the UK and internationally to influence policy and practice beyond our borders.
These achievements demonstrate what we can accomplish when we work together with clarity, compassion, and purpose. The connections we’ve fostered this year—and the progress in inclusion and participation—will be the foundation for even greater impact in 2026. While challenges remain, the resilience and commitment shown by this movement give us confidence for the future. SRC will continue to lead with integrity—embedding rights-based approaches, amplifying lived experience, and driving systemic change.
