Large Grants for Communities Tackling Poverty and Deprivation

Recovery work and poverty are rarely separate issues. The Volant Charitable Trust’s Large Grants programme, delivered through Foundation Scotland, is built for charities working at that intersection.

What it prioritises. Charities and organisations addressing poverty and deprivation, supporting vulnerable groups who are most affected, with particular emphasis on women, children and young people.

What it funds. Up to £25,000 a year, for a maximum of three years, so a maximum total grant of £75,000. Minimum grant requests start at £10,000. Applicants need an annual income under £1 million, and organisations already receiving Volant funding, or applying to its Small Grants programme at the same time, aren’t eligible to apply here too.

Timeline, and what “closing date” actually means here. This is a two-stage process. The Stage 1 enquiry form closes at midnight on 28 September 2026, with Stage 2 decisions following by early April 2027. So 28 September is the deadline to get your interest registered, not a same-month decision date.

What’s not eligible. Capital projects and building renovations aren’t funded through this programme.
