The first national baseline picture of recovery communities and LEROs across Scotland — understanding who they are, what they do, what they contribute and what they need.
Scotland’s recovery communities and Lived Experience Recovery Organisations are doing extraordinary work — peer support, community development, family support, governance, volunteering. Often with limited resources and little formal recognition. This research set out to change that.
The third in a series of three interconnected reports, this mapping exercise was carried out by Andy Perkins (Figure 8) and his team on behalf of SRC, drawing on survey responses from 50 recovery organisations across Scotland.
The result is a clearer, more comprehensive picture of what recovery organisations look like across Scotland — their structure, reach, funding, challenges and the contribution they make every single week.
The Communities Research tells us what Scotland’s recovery communities contribute. Digesting the Evidence tells us why communities like these work — drawing on 15 years of international research covering peer support, LEROs, recovery-oriented systems of care and what the evidence says about sustaining recovery.
