Recovery Month 2026: What’s Happening, and How to Get Involved

Recovery Month is here, and this year SRC is building it around a simple idea: Building Recovery, Inspiring Hope Together.

There’s a lot happening this September, across the country and across our own channels.

Local recovery walks are going ahead in several areas this month, alongside recovery picnics, sober discos, prison partner days, art sessions, workshops and open days from recovery communities and partner organisations right across Scotland. We’ve pulled all of it together on our Recovery Month 2026 page, now linked directly from the main menu on our website, so it’s easy to find out what’s happening near you. Throughout September we’ll also be sharing more across our newsletter and social channels: community stories, what recovery communities have achieved this year, and the frameworks and rights that sit behind good recovery support.

This year looks different, and that’s worth being upfront about.

There’s no national Recovery Walk Scotland this year. What hasn’t changed is the value people place on it, and what it’s meant to communities across the country for years. That’s exactly why we want to hear from you. Our Have Your Say survey asks what you’ve liked about the Recovery Walk, what you’ll miss, and what you’d like to see next, nationally and locally. Every response goes directly into the case SRC is making to the Scottish Government about the Walk’s future. It takes a few minutes, and it’s the clearest way to help shape what comes next.

Looking back, and hearing from the people who’ve led it.

Later in the month, we’ll be looking back at past Recovery Walks and sharing reflections from LERO leadership members on what the Walk has meant to them over the years, what they’ll carry forward, and what they hope for next. It felt right to mark this particular year by hearing directly from the people who’ve been part of building the Walk into what it became.

Why this matters to SRC’s work.

Recovery Month isn’t a one-off campaign for us. It’s a chance to make visible the work that happens in recovery communities all year round: peer support, lived experience leadership, and the everyday work of building a Scotland where recovery is understood as a human right, not an exception. Whether that’s a local walk, a workshop, or five minutes spent on our survey, every part of September adds up to the same thing: building recovery, together.
