The Fund Without a Deadline Is Still Worth Applying To

Funding searches tend to surface whatever’s newest or closing soonest. Rolling programmes, the ones open all year with no deadline forcing the issue, can end up forgotten simply because nothing about them creates urgency. Fairer Life Chances is a good example of a fund worth keeping in view for exactly that reason.

What it funds. Run by the National Lottery Community Fund in Scotland, it offers grants of £20,001 to £500,000, for projects lasting up to five years, to voluntary and community organisations with a clear social purpose, open membership, and a board or committee made up mainly of the community they serve.

What it’s looking for. Projects need to show they’ll achieve at least one of two outcomes: children, young people and families thriving, or people having better relationships, connections and physical or mental health.

Still open, still worth a look. There’s no deadline pressing on this one, which is exactly why it’s easy to lose track of. If your recovery community has a growth idea that’s been sitting in the “someday” pile, this is a fund that’s been there this whole time, and still is.
